Abstract Art “Linear Improvisation” – Forms of Intuition
Tanja La Croix discovered her fascination with visual creation in early childhood.
Inspired by creative impulses during her time as an international model, she went on to design her own fashion collection. The St. Gallen native is also highly expressive as a DJ, producing her own music for years — always driven by the desire to express herself creatively and to inspire and move people emotionally.
Over time, she devoted more and more hours to the studio, where she developed her own visual language. Her works emerge from a single, intuitive line — without preliminary sketches, without correction. It is a play between letting go, intuition, and focused presence.
Just like in life, there is no erasing, no turning back. The line I draw is final — an act of acceptance. The organic forms that arise are not planned, but felt. In this trust in the uncontrolled lies my artistic truth.
When art is created not from control, but from surrender.
Tanja La Croix – “Linear Improvisation” – Forms of Intuition
The artist Tanja Wettach, known as Tanja La Croix, was born on April 8, 1982, in St. Gallen, Switzerland. Her career is as multifaceted as her art itself.
Raised in a creative and musical family, she was immersed from an early age in a world of artistic expression. Her father, a drummer, and her mother, who worked at a renowned company for art and craft supplies, created an environment where color and sound were ever-present. This early exposure to materials, rhythm, and form laid the foundation for her unique and layered artistic vision.
From her school years onward, La Croix was confronted with her own creative identity. Her shy and introspective nature led to early experiences of isolation, through which she found refuge in painting—a space of self-expression and emotional grounding. Art became her sanctuary and a source of strength, allowing her to explore and process the complex facets of her identity. This early bond with painting marked the beginning of her lifelong artistic journey.
After expressing her first creative impulses through fashion design and working as an international model, La Croix discovered the world of music. Her work as a DJ and producer opened up a completely new dimension of artistic expression—one where, much like in her painting, she could transmit emotion and energy in a direct and powerful way. The explosive, energetic, and chaotic structures of her music reflect the ecstatic facets of her personality, which she brings to life in her performances.
But beyond this raw, almost uncontrollable power that defines her musical persona, there exists a contrasting side—one of quiet and meticulous creation. Her visual art practice, which she describes as a “delicate craft of patience,” is rooted in a technique she calls Linear Improvisation. It consists of a single, intuitive line drawn across the canvas.
“Just like in life, there is no erasing, no going back. The line I draw is final—a silent act of acceptance. What emerges is not planned, but felt. In surrendering to the uncontrolled, organic shapes and structures are born that express my artistic truth.”
This clear, almost meditative technique adds a deeper dimension to her work, offering the viewer space for introspection and inner stillness.
The tension between the explosive energy of music and the calm clarity of her visual art is a central theme in La Croix’s life. She emphasizes that she never wants to choose between the two—both are essential to who she is. Her art and her music reflect this duality: the ecstatic force of a performer who captivates thousands, and the quiet, contemplative presence of an artist who channels emotion through her brush.
La Croix’s works embody this ongoing exploration of identity and the interplay between the various aspects of the self. She invites viewers to engage with their own inner contradictions and aspirations.
Her goal is not just to move people through visual art, but to encourage them to let go, to trust, and to follow their own inner path—a path toward self-acceptance, clarity, and the courage to embrace and live their dreams.
To live life with devotion rather than control—just like her art.
“My art reflects my inner attitude: not to control, but to trust. I believe true strength lies in letting go—in life as in the artistic process. Lines appear without a plan, forms without intention. That’s how I see life: with surrender, not control.”
